Born in Lancashire in 1950, James David graduated from Birmingham University in 1972. He taught for over twenty years in schools in
Staffordshire and Yorkshire before becoming a freelance writer, private tutor and craftsman.
As a freelance he has compiled word puzzles and crosswords for many magazines and newspapers including Hello! for 10 years and the Whitby Gazette. He has had several puzzle books published including 'Scrabble' books for Chambers and Harper Collins.
His hobbies include cricket, drawing, films, writing, music and travel.
As passionate countryside and animal lovers, he and his wife, Jo, are keen walkers and have fostered many dogs for Whitby Dog Rescue. They have a small craft-shop at Robin Hood's Bay and live on the edge of the Moors near Whitby.
